Trailer ✓ Doll Costume Dress Up: 20 Sewing Patterns for the 18-inch Doll PDF by ↠´ Joan Hinds dont know how to get the pattern pieces from the book ,so book is useless to me A truly great selection of patterns There are great tips and well written instructions for assembly.
The enclosed CD includes well drafted patterns which include seam allowances.
The print out of the patterns are exact to scale and no calculations or scaling required.
This book is not a beginners book as their there are some basics assumptions such as how to make gathers or cutting on a bias for the full length skirt portion of the long dresses to create fullness and flounce I might be sounding picky, however I believe dressmaking techniques apply to doll clothes as well.
All in all, this book is a wonderful value for the price indeed Dress Up Your Doll From Super Hero To Princess, Pumpkin To Mermaid, These Adorable Doll Costumes For The Inch Doll Will Ignite Your Child S Imagination Beloved Author Joan Hinds Brings Together A Collection Of Twenty Fun And Creative Costumes, Letting Children Enjoy The Magic Of Dress Up With Their Dolls Year Round Costumes Plus Accessories For The Inch DollClearly Illustrated Instructions For Simple SewingBonus Child Sized Mask Pattern To Make With Your DaughterIncludes A CD Rom With Full Size PDF Patterns dont know how to get the pattern pieces from the book ,so book is useless to me I love how Joan Hinds writes her books They are well thought out and easy to follow However I had some difficulties with this particular book Joan usually includes tissue patterns or templates in her books, however, in this book, she has included a CD that contains the patterns I had a terrible time trying to print the patterns The instructions say to use 100% scaling but when I printed them at 100% scaling, the patterns would not fit the page I tried different scaling sizes which took a lot of my time, paper and ink I eventually figured out to use the default scaling that came when I opened the pattern PDF file 152% which finally worked Some of the patterns had to be joined which also makes it complicated for newer sewers If I had realized how difficult this process would be I would not have bought this book Not up to Joan s usual standards Usually love Joan Hinds books but am passing on this one due to comments on the forum for American Girl Group where several of the women complained that the witch costume is nothing like the picture Lots of complaints Perhaps Joan has a comment.
I bought two books of doll costumes by Joan Hinds While the Contemporary Wardrobe had fun options, and I love those outfits, too, I preferred the format of the pattern pieces for the Dress Up book It is much easier to manage a CD of pattern pieces, just printing off those for the outfit being sewn, instead of struggling with all the tissue paper pieces which are so easily damaged.
For both books the sizing was excellent The clothes, when made, fit perfectly.
I bought this for my Mom for her birthday, the patterns are interesting if your into 18inch dolls.
