My son and I have just started hunting, so I thought it d be a good idea to read a reference book on deer This book pretty much answered all my questions and Some of the reproductive details might be a little much for a youngster, but the author spares no details from his observations As such, he can t be accused of not being thorough Depending on the reader s maturity, this is probably a high school age read.
It s organized in a cool way, in that it sort of follows a deer s life through a calendar year It obviously covers food and habits, and also includes some quirky observations from the author and some hunting strategies.
Anyway, his is a well written book that is what it claims to be I just finished it, and while I ve got some other topics on my read next list, I look forward to coming back and reading this one again.
I love deer Any facts I can learn about them, whether it be a behavior or trait for identification, are welcomed by me Thinking I knew a lot about these beautiful creatures, I picked up this book with some cockiness thinking I knew just about as much as the author WRONG I am grateful for the expanded learning experience I saw behavior displayed by a doe toward her yearlings that I never thought would occur when she gave birth to fawn a few months ago it was in the book Waiting for this year s rut to identify behaviors This book is a must have from observers to.
